“Hit and Run”
First Prize Winner at 2021 Fabella Game Jam
My audio game/interactive story won first prize at the Fabella Game Jam associated with Poptale and WanderWord. Production has begun on chapter 2 out of a 5 part series. With so much interest and investment in podcasts there are not many options when it comes to audio games. This multimedia format is an immersive experience with a sprawling narrative that takes place over the course of 4 seasons.
While you can play on a computer and select your choices, the game is compatible with Alexa and fully playable through voice activation and a speaker, providing accessibility for the visually impaired. Software is being improved for stability. With enough funding we’d have the potential to expand our one of a kind audio RPG into a fully fledged video game, providing multiple ways to experience “Hit and Run.”
“Hit and Run” is about a teenager who witnesses a car hitting a boy, and driving off. He must find a way to the hospital, which is driven through sincere dialogue and human connection. Using branching storylines and deep role playing mechanics such as choice of intellect, strength, and intuition; skill points are assigned. Combined with chance, using old school RPG elements like dice rolls, your skills will determine if you pass the checkpoints you choose.
Chapter 1 explores the beginning stages of the game, and the inciting incident that changes the life of an ordinary teen. Humor, and a poetic, reflective narrative propel the sensitive story that evolves into a personal quest to find the driver. I wrote the script, recorded all dialogue, and mastered the music and sound effects. My fiancé Candice provided some of the narration, and I play the main character James.
